The Functional Medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. It requires a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical and lifestyle factors and leverages that data to direct personalized treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes.
Solve the root issue, not the symptoms...
By addressing the root cause, rather than symptoms, practitioners become oriented to identifying the complexity of disease. They may find one condition has many different causes and, likewise, one cause may result in many different conditions. As a result, Functional Medicine treatment targets the specific manifestations of disease in each individual.
Who Benefits from this Approach?
Do you struggle with stubborn weight gain, digestive issues or persistent allergies? Maybe you are struggling with multiple symptoms that are unexplained or have several autoimmune conditions and you don’t feel heard by other providers. Or perhaps you feel decent but want to optimize your health, peak your performance, and prevent conditions in the future.
No matter where you are in life, the functional medicine approach is for you and I would love to work with you.
I will commit to getting to the root cause of your symptoms by doing a thorough health history, listening to your story and ordering appropriate labs. Based on all of those findings, I will develop an individualized treatment protocol for your lifestyle, nutritional needs, genetics and underlying conditions.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I am licensed and prepared to provide primary care to all clients that require services within the scope of practice of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Having acquired additional education and training in Integrative Medicine therapies and Functional Medicine , I am convinced there are many individuals who would benefit from these specialties. Through extensive training I have formed unique programs to address the complex and chronic conditions that benefit from this model of medical practice. These include conditions that dictate an investment of time from both practitioner and patient.
I expect my clients to be prepared to contribute daily to the results we determine as a collaborative team. Most protocols will provide notable results in six months with diligent oversight and active participation by my clients. Initially, clients are encouraged to invest in their health for a year, with the goal of monthly 1:1 assessments to determine progress to stated goals. These can be done through tele-health after the first visit. The specialized programs available and symptoms and conditions that benefit can include:
Metabolic & Endocrine Balance
Rejuvenate & Relieve

Though awareness about mold allergies has improved over the years, you may not be aware of another mold-related illness — chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS). It provokes a range of symptoms that can be easily misdiagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, or even multiple sclerosis. One in four people have a genetic predisposition to being extra sensitive to mold, which makes them more likely to get sick when exposed. Because of this, many patients are sick while the rest of their family is not, so no one thinks to check for environmental exposures. Symptoms range from loss of memory & concentration, and fatigue to digestive & respiratory disorders, chronic pain, and difficulty sleeping.
Chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS) is a biotoxin illness triggered by exposure to mold. Around 25% of the US population have the genes which put them at risk of developing CIRS if brought into contact with mold. You don’t necessarily have to have this genetic predisposition to develop CIRS.
